§ Flush screws · Concealed fasteners

A flush screw shows nothing.

A countersunk screw sits level, but you still see its slot or socket. A flush screw goes further: the head is level and the drive is concealed, so the fastener reads as a smooth metal disc. The F-Head™ by Flush Fasteners® is that screw, the flush fastener the name stands for.

Stainless hinge held by three flush screws with concealed drives

Flush and concealed, in one screw.

Until now you had to choose. Fasten on the face and live with a visible drive, or hide the fixing with plugs, caps or access from behind. The F-Head™ is the first standard screw to do both: it fastens straight through the face, sits flush, and keeps its drive under a captive plunger that opens only while a bit is pressed in. Nothing stands proud and nothing is open, so nothing catches cloth, skin, rope or dirt.

§ Where they go

Fitting flush screws by material.

01

Metal

Countersink the part and tap the thread, or use a nut or captive nut behind. The head finishes level with the face.

02

Glass and stone

Through standard countersunk hardware such as hinges, patch fittings and standoffs. The smooth head matches brushed stainless fittings.

03

Wood countertops and furniture

The F-Head™ is a machine screw, so in hardwood or butcher block it goes into a threaded insert set in the wood. It can come out and go back in without wearing the hole.

§ Questions

Asked plainly.

What is a flush screw?

A screw whose head sits level with the surface and shows no drive. The F-Head™ by Flush Fasteners® conceals its 6-lobe drive under a captive plunger, so the installed head is a smooth stainless disc.

Is a countersunk screw a flush screw?

Not quite. A countersunk screw sits level, but its slot, cross or socket stays visible and open. A flush screw is level and closed. Concealed fasteners such as clips, plugs and caps hide the fixing instead, but need rear access or a cover.

What bit does a flush screw take?

The F-Head™ takes a standard 6-lobe bit: T10 for M3 and #6, T20 for M4 and #8, T25 for M5 and #10, T30 for M6 and 1/4", T40 for M8 and 5/16", T50 for 3/8".

Can I use flush screws on a wood countertop?

Yes, with a threaded insert. The F-Head™ is a machine screw, so in hardwood or butcher block it goes into a metal insert set in the wood, and it can be removed and refitted without wearing the hole.

Are flush screws removable?

Yes. Press the bit into the head, unscrew as normal, and reinstall whenever you need to.

What are they made of?

Solid 316 stainless steel, brushed. Suitable outdoors and in saltwater, and the head can be sanded flush with the surface.
